The latest housing market figures for the Greater Toronto Area have just been released. It has just been reported that 10,850 transactions of all home types took place through the TorontoMLS System in May 2012. As numbers from the Toronto Real Estate Board prove, May sales were up 5 per cent compared to April. Consistent with GTA's trend, May was also a good month for the Markham real estate market, as Ontario residents continue to find Markham's amenities and central location within the GTA very appealing. The total number of homes sold of 577 and a total dollar volume of 364,322,954. Detached homes and condominiums were the types of homes with the highest demand.
Asides from thevolume of sales, the prices of homes were also very positive throughout Markham and the rest of the GTA. "Strong competition between buyers seeking to purchase low-rise home types drove strong price growth in May," said Jason Mercer, Toronto Real Estate Board's Senior Manager of Market Analysis.
