Many would agree that one of the best things about summer is the abundance of delicious produce that is made available to us. We as Ontarians are particularly fortunate because we have vast farmlands located just in the outskirts of our city, which ensures a fresh local supply of fruits and vegetables that retain a maximal level of vitamins and minerals (produce that travel great distances to arrive on our plates are typically significantly less nutritious simply because nutrients quickly begin to degrade shortly after harvesting.)
So this is the very kind of thing you can expect to find at the Markham Village Farmers' Market at Robinson Street and Main Street Markham North - fresh fruits and vegetables, along with a plethora of pies, pastries, organic bread, homemade jams and sauces, honey, smoked meats, natural soaps and other products. There will also be live performances ranging from folk to jazz from 10 am to 1 pm.
The Farmers' Market is held every Saturday until September 29 from 8 am to 1 pm. There is ample free parking behind most of the retail shops. Come and taste a fun Markham tradition!
