So my son Keenan started JK this past week (tears*)! Previously, Keenan's preschool prepared all of his snacks and lunches so I've never had to put any thought into it. But to be honest, I am pretty excited to be packing my sons lunches for school!
We follow the 80/20 rule with him, and for ourselves for the most part. Knowing he's getting sugary treats from family and friends it's super important that his main meals are healthy but enjoyable.
There is a TON of food in this pic, he wouldn't eat half of this in a day that while at school. But I wanted my first post on school lunches to show the importance of variety. You obviously want healthy proteins, fats and carbohydrates but note, different colours bring in a variety of phytonutrients which is important as well.
You can find most of these foods at your local grocery store. I shop mostly at #superstore #remark and of course #costco where you can actually find a great variety of organic products including meats.
I welcome any questions or advice through my blog or social media :)
