The Okanagan is the heart of BC's Wine Country. With well over 200 wineries within this region, you can discover new wines and wineries at almost every turn!

The Lake

With several lakes and beaches in the area, its no wonder why the Okanagan is one of the top Canadian summer tourist destinations! Kelowna is nestled alongside the waters of Okanagan Lake. As the lake rarely freezes, boaters, fishing and water enthusiasts play on the lake year-round. A few other popular area lakes include: Kalamalka lake (Vernon) Wood Lake (Lake Country), Skaha Lake (Penticton)….and the list goes on!

Sports and Recreation

There are a variety of indoor and outdoor recreation and sporting opportunities available in the Okanagan. Some of the more popular attractions include Big White Ski Resort & Silver Star Ski Resort in the winter months & hiking or biking the historic Myra Canyon Trestles in the warmer months. The Okanagan offers many dining choices. From lakeside bistros, to beautiful wineries to familiar family favourties, you are sure to find something tasty to eat! A lot of our community restaurants use ingredients grown right here in the local orchards & farms.  



Whether you are looking for the challenge of a world-class    championship course or you are simply eager to play, finding a course in the area makes for an easy task. Many golf courses operate from February or March to October or November (weather permitting). It’s been known if you live in the Kelowna area that you may be able to ski and golf….all in the same day!!



From big box to boutique stores- you'll find it all in the Okanagan area. Stroll the downtown Kelowna or South Pandosy area for unique shopping options or head to Orchard Park Mall (the largest mall in the Okanagan) where you will find all the familiar stores in a nice shopping environment!


Parks, Paths & Hikes

In the Kelowna area, check out Waterfront Park or enjoy the day at City Park beach with a variety of fun things for the whole family! Take a walk or cruiser bike ride along the waterfront path or if you are feeling more adventurous, stop by Knox mountain park and enjoy a beautiful, scenic hike! Kelowna is not the only place that offers beautiful hikes and walking paths, check out all the surrounding Okanagan areas for a variety of outdoor adventures!!


Education Opportunities

School District #23 (Kelowna) provides public schooling for kids in Kindergarten through grade 12 at a variety of neighborhood schools. There are also private school options available. UBC-Okanagan provides post-secondary education in a variety of degree programs and is continuing to grow in both its services and programs offered. Kelowna is also home to Okanagan College which provides trades, technical, adult education, and university and transfer programs.


Medical Facilities

The Okanagan is home to a variety of medical offices, specialists, surgeons, family physicians, dentists, holistic practitioners, and chiropractors. Kelowna General Hospital is the largest and most comprehensive medical facility in the southern interior of BC, and includes a full treatment cancer clinic.
