In celebration of Okanagan Wine Fest, I thought I’d write a quick Blog to share some of my favorite local wineries. I feel so fortunate to live in this beautiful area. I love all the orchards, vineyards, lakes & mountains. I hope to be able to check out more of the amazing wineries we have right here in the Okanagan in the near future, but of the ones I have been to, here are few of my favorites:
SILVER SAGE- This Oliver winery has a huge selection of dessert wines. The whites are delicious as well & they have a great, interactive tasting that gives you an extensive sampling of their wines.
THE VIEW- Perhaps one of the wineries I frequent most as it is very close to my house! If you get a chance to check it out, try their new “Silver Lining” Red (just won Silver Medal at the Okanagan Wine Fest) or Silver Lining White. Delicious, easy drinking wines at a great price point! (Don’t forget to check out the cool labels on the back- very clever!!)
MISSION HILL- One of the most spectacular wineries in the area! Definitely worth checking out if you haven’t been! Very impressive!!!
RUSTICO FARM & CELLARS- If you’re looking for “Character” this is the winery for you! This charming winery is located in Oliver – it’s one you won’t forget!
SUMMER HILL- I have only recently visited Summer Hill and was very impressed. They have an extensive wine list and a beautiful restaurant with amazing views of lake Okanagan! Try the Gewürztraminer white and the Syrah red! These are my fav’s!
VIBRANT VINE- This South East Kelowna Winery is also full of character & color. Famous for their funky labels and award winning whites, try a tasting in their “3D” tasting room or catch some live music on weekends in the their garden!
Make sure to add “Wine Tour” to your itinerary next time you visit the beautiful Okanagan! If this is home for you (as it is me!) take the time to get out and visit our local wineries- it’s amazing to discover the variety and quality of wines you will find right here in your own “backyard”!
Just another way to discover and appreciate the "Okanagan Lifestyle"
