Sun Peaks
Sun Peaks Resort is centrally located in the interior of British Columbia, and only a 45 minute drive from Kamloops. It is also the Closest British Columbia interior ski resort by road from Vancouve, BC (4.25 hours), and Seattle, WA (5.5 hours).
Sun Peaks resort has two airport gateways in Kamloops and Kelowna. Daily direct flights are available to Kamloops from Vancouver, Calgary, and Seattle. To Kelowna, fly non-stop from Toronto as well as from Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Victoria, and Seattle. Connecations are also available from across North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia. Also new for 2007-2008 non stop flights from both New Zealand and Australia to Vancouver. There is airport shuttle service available from Kamloops, Kelowna and Vancouver to Sun Peaks. With Sun Peaks being so close to other ski areas, inter resort shuttles are available to and from Big White, Silver Star and Whister Blackcomb.
The interior of British Columbia is known throughout the world for its light and dry powder. Our geograpic location is the primary factor attributing to our excellent snow quality. Sun Peaks is located in the interior of British Columbia, which is protected from the mild couastal weather caused by the Coast Mountains. Prevailing storms come from the Pacific Ocean then rie and cool as tehy pass over the Coast Mountains, before reaching Sun Peaks Resort. Our reputation for reliable snow conditions has been proven over 40 years of operations.
With 3,678 skiable acres on three mountains and 122 runs that inculde twelve gladed areas, Sun Peaks Resort is the ultimate ski vacation. Sun Peaks is also the home of the biggest vertical drop, 2,891 (881m), in the interior of British Columbia.
The charming ski-through apline village at the base of all three mountains gives you access to chairlifts, hotels, eateries, shopping, sports school, the spa, and a variety of activities. Green, bllue, and black runs can be accessed from the top of every chairlift allowing everyone to choose their favourite run, and meet back at the bottom of the chairlift. Most trails lead right into the village, so it is easy to meet your friends and family after a run.
Sun Peaks is a great family getaway. With Chilminding, tube park, ice skating, full and half day ski lessons for all ages, kids casino night, first trax breakfast, slopesisde movie nights, horse drawn sleigh rides, cat trax groomer rides and outdoor swimming pool and hot tubs.
