.... this is one of my favorite times of the year. Fresh strawberries are here !
So are some of the first tomatoes, sugar snap peas, spinach, heads of lettuce, radishes, garlic scapes to name just a few. As well, the grapes are starting to show at many of the wineries. Another two weeks and those will really start to get big. Then of course we'll go into August and the change of colour. I love this time of year.
Some places where you can get fresh fruits and vegetables in Prince Edward County are at the roadside stands:
Hagerman Farms on the Loyalist Parkway... just across from the Waring House.
Everdean Farms at 13783 Loyalist Parkway outside of Picton.
Laundry Farms on County Road 1 just west of the roundabout. Their strawberries are awesome. I've already had 3 baskets.
And last but not least is the Prince Edward County Lavender Festival at Prince Edward County Lavendar up on the Closson Road - 732 Closson Road. It takes place this weekend - July 5 and 6. All day. Both days. There will be food, music, demonstrations and of course fun for the entire family. You can get more details by calling 800-343-0841
See you around the County !
