On success in 2009

After Cindy Haggerty suggested that I read the Outliers by 'Malcolm Gladwell" I was drawn to  certain similarities and also opportunities that exist within this real estate market.

"No one can rise before dawn three hundred and sixty days a year and fail to make his family rich" is how he introduces the chapter entitled 'on rice paddies and math tests'.  In essence Gladwell; proposes that the 'essence' to all ultra successful persons is the extra effort and commitment that they show (Gladwell calls it 10,000 hours) The puzzle of the math problems, or to us of the market is solved not by inspiration; positive results  come after real personal wrestling within the solving process.

Outliers explains that extraordinary growth can often follows periods of change and uncertainty. In fact, people who were disadvantaged prior to the changing climate, are often best suited to adapt and take advantage of the new realities. Outliers shows that a market shift, together with a new outlook and proper support can propel us to new heights. The person best able to take advantage of the situation does so because they have the right combination of family support and the right community cultural influences to support their personal determination.

Today we have the opportunty to be different, to be better, and to be in tune with the current market needs. Gladwell's 'outliers' gives a good insight into the charactyeristics of those who will succeed.
