Here is some exciting news for travellers! You will be able to get passport services in Belleville beginning Monday, Feb. 23. This is so much easier than driving to Whitby and waiting in traffic & their lineups!
Daryl Kramp, Member of Parliament for Prince Edward-Hastings, made the announcement Monday on behalf of Jason Kenney, Minister of Employment and Social Development.
The Service Canada Centre is at 1 North Front St. Passport receiving agents will assist citizens with the standard passport application by reviewing it on site for completeness, verifying supporting documents, accepting payment and forwarding it on for processing.
If you need a passport within 10 days will still have to drive to the Whitby office. Those using the services of a “receiving agent” such as Belleville’s should receive their document within 20 days.
Service Canada is expanding passport receiving services to additional Service Canada Centres. New locations and opening dates to be announced in the coming weeks include:
o Sudbury and Kingston, Ontario – Feb. 2
o Stratford, Ontario – Feb. 9
o Brantford, Ontario – Feb. 16
o Belleville and Chatham, Ontario – Feb. 23
