Before you List your House

Before your house goes on the market, here are a few tips on how to get ready…

  1. Remove Clutter

This is one of the most important things to do before putting your house on the market. A house full of clutter will look smaller and unappealing to potential buyers. Therefore it is very important to clean up your home. Not only from first impression areas but from closets and storage areas as well. Store away personal items, ornaments or collectibles. Try to keep your decor neutral so it appeals to a greater audience. You may want to have carpets professionally cleaned. It is also a good idea to  remove large furniture from small rooms.

  1. Clean up the yard.

Your front yard and porch are going to be a buyer’s first impression. Keep the walkway clear, yard lights working and lawn trimmed. Even though the back yard isn’t a first impression area, it is important to keep this area manicured as well.

  1. Lights

Make sure all the lights in the house are working. You want the buyers to see your beautiful house and all the work you did to remove the clutter!

  1. Staging

Staging is a growing trend and proves to be successful. You may want to consider having a professional look at your house and stage it according to local trends. This can be very beneficial and can help increase the value of your home.
