The following is a reminder of items you will want to attend to when considering your move.
Insurance: Insurance on your new home to be in effect approximately one day before possession. A copy of your insurance will need to be at your lawyer’s office in order for them to place title in your name. Ensure you keep insurance on your present home (if applicable) until funds are received.
Lawyers: Choose a lawyer and have an appointment arranged approximately three weeks prior to possession. Keep in mind lawyers are not usually licensed out of province. So if you are moving here from out of province, you will need to find a Saskatchewan lawyer.
Moving Van: Contact the mover of your choice well in advance, particularly if possession will be near the 15th or the end of the month.
Schools: Contacts schools to register your children.
Saskatoon Public School Board: (306) 683-8190
Saskatoon Separate School Board: (306) 668-7000
Utilities: Advise these utilities at least one week prior to possession so that they can hook up meters and will be aware of the disconnect. Depending on the area of the city that your house is in, you may be serviced by the City of Saskatoon for your electricity.
