Milton is situated in Southern Ontario and is part of the GTA. It is centrally located on Highway 401 and Near Highways 407, 403, 410, 427, 400 and Just 20 mins from Pearson International Airport. Originally named Mill Town, Milton was made a town in 1857 and is now part of the municipality of Halton. Milton became famous when it was announced in 2006 that it was the fastest growing community in Canada. Growth in Milton exploded following the opening up of new development when Milton expanded it water and waste facilities in the early part of the 21st Century. The population as of 2014 is approximately 105,000 with projected population figures to be 162,000 by 2021 and 238,000 by 2031.
Things to Do
Milton is located adjacent to the Niagara Escarpment, a UNESCO bio-sphere reserve and boasts many important heritage areas. Milton has double the green space and recreational space than anywhere in the GTA. 5 large parks are operated by Conservation Halton with the town limits. Hikers and nature lovers enjoy the extensive walking and hiking paths on the Bruce Trail which extends from Niagara Falls to Tobermory. Crawford Lake is a meticulously maintained Native heritage museum where visitors can view a recreated Native village. Mountsberg, Rattlesnake Point also provide extensive outdoor activities and great views over the escarpment. The Glen Eden Ski and Snowboard Centre provides winter fun right in town and has an excellent ski school. The highlight of the Fall is the Milton Fall Fair which is now 60 years strong and features an agricultural show, livestock, a demolition derby and other traditional fall fair events.
When the “Big Pipe” projected was completed, bringing water to the town from Lake Ontario, the builders moved in, creating extensive new subdivisions around the town. Services have grown in Milton to serve the growing population. Milton has amongst the lowest residential and business property taxes in the GTA. The average price of a home in the Halton Region in Jan 1996 was 237,215 and as of September 2014 it now stands at 630,516, an increase of 265%. The median age of Milton Residents 34.1, one of the youngest in Canada with the average family income being $114,495
In Order to accommodate the Delivery and installation of the final Steel Bridge components for the Main Street Grade Separation it will be necessary to implement lane restrictions and road closures on Main Street East from Tuesday October 28th to Friday December 5th. TREB Monthly Housing Figues Released
TREB have announced that residential sales reported through the TorontoMLS system during the first 2 weeks of October were up by 12.2 per cent compared to the same period in 2013. Over the same period, new listings entered into TREB were up by a lesser 5.9 per cent.The average selling price for properties during the first two weeks of October was $583,719 – up by 8.8 per cent compared to the same period in 2013.

TREB have announced that there were a total of 8,051 transactions reported through the Toronto Real Estate Board in September 2014. This reflects a 10.9% increase compared to September 2013. The average selling price for September 2014 was $573,676 which shows an increase of 7.7% cent compared to August 2013. The average selling price for a home year to date is $563,813, an increase of 8.5% for the first 9 months of 2013.
