Christmas is a mere 7 weeks away. It is certainly a very joyous time of the year, spent with family and friends. It is also a very busy time for most. So, many home owners wouldn't think of trying to sell their home during the holiday season. However, there are many reasons why as a home owner, it may be a great time to sell. Many people do a great deal of their home buying research online initially, therefore they can do this from the comfort of their own home, free from the cold weather. If someone is buying during a typically busy time of the year, chances are they are motivated. Also, there will be less inventory on the market, giving your home a great chance to stand out!! Here are a few tips to keep your home ready to sell during the holiday/winter season.
KEEP THE TEMP UP!! We are all cautious of rising energy costs, and we all try to reduce usage to keep those costs down. That said, nothing turns a buyer off like walking into a cold, dark house in the winter. Keep the temperature warm, keep lights on, and make the buyer's first moments in your home comfortable.
SHOWCASE THE FIREPLACE!! If you have a fireplace, showcase it!!
NO SHOES POLICY!! Buyer's will appreciate you wanting to keep your home in good condition, and clean and dry. This shows you are most likely diligent in maintaining other parts of your home all year round.
OUTSIDE!! Keep the outside access to your home free and clear of snow and ice. Make it easy, and safe for buyers to enter your home/property. Having to tread through a foot of snow to get to the front door is a pretty quick turn off for buyers.
