DECEMBER Buyers Survey Results
The results of OMREB’s DECEMBER 2014 Buyers Survey and year-end averages (pie charts) are now in and posted! A total of 147 respondents participated in this survey – representing 45% of the 327 OMREB sales representatives who acted as Buyers Agents, and 33% of the 452 deals closed on behalf of Buyers in December.

20.0% of purchases were by Move-Up Buyers (down from 20.9% in November)
18.6% by First Time Buyers (up from 14.3%) *
12.4% buying Revenue/Investment Property (up from 10.2%) *
11.7% moving from Single Family Home to Strata Unit (down from 16.8%)
11.0% buying Recreation Property (up from 9.2%) *
2.1% moving from Strata property to Single Family Home (down from 6.6%)
1.4% moving into Retirement Home/Seniors Community (down from 4.1%)
* During December, there were increases in purchases by first-time buyers, and by investment and recreation property buyers, compared to the previous month.

25.2% Two Parent Family/Children (up from 24.2% in November) **
24.5% Couple without Children (up from 23.7%) **
24.5% Empty Nester/Retired (up from 20.7%) **
12.2% Single Female (down from 15.7%)

6.1% Single Parent with Children (up from 3.5%) **
** There were more purchases by first-time buyers, couples without children, empty nesters and single parents with children during December.

*** Compared to November, more buyers moved from within the Board area, and from other areas in BC, other provinces and outside Canada.
