It's been a crazy few months! I jumped right in to the Real Estate world, got the thrills of helping my first few clients find their "castle", as I like to call it in my head. Every mans (persons!) home is their castle, right? I've decided I really like being a Buyer Representative.
That being said, it's not been without it's hurdles! Or hurls...
Case in point: Last Saturday morning. Get up bright and early, trying to make sure I have everything I need for the day's showings. We're to head out to Smith's Falls, just over an hour away. I was feeling queasy when I ate my breakfast.. should have listened! But that's happened before, I'm not a morning person after all. Never was, never will be!
So we decide to share one car on the way, because it's a long trip. There's only four of us - my client and his parents plus me, so we all pile into the little vw that belongs to the client's mom. I'm enjoying the fact that I can look through my detail sheets, check the gps, and get to know them a bit better on the drive, instead of driving in a separate car... but there's this little sensation that's saying "You know... it's awful tight back here...".
You know where this is going. Oh yeah. No sooner do I finally say "I have to stop... at a bathroom.... " then it starts coming up. It really doesn't go back down after that, but I made, if I do say so myself, a valiant effort.
There we are, halfway between Smith's Falls and Ottawa, me voiding the contents of my stomach in a ditch while my clients scramble to find old towels, garbage bags and Kleenex to clean up the impressive mess I made of back seat.
THEY were great though. Nicest people in the world! Here I am, messing up the car (and we all know how lovely that vomit smell is), and they're telling me it's alright, everyone's done it. I was -soaked-, miserable, sick and shaking.. but we made it to a Tim Horton's to try and clean up and they bought me a bottle of water, then we went to a Walmart and I bought car cleaners and a new pair of yoga pants and a sweater because I was determined not to make them sit in a small car with a girl covered in puke for several hours!
We didn't buy any houses that day.. but I have to say, I feel I've really pushed the envelope on getting to know these people and they're top notch! Hope we can find them something great!
