From a growing tech industry to evolving tourist attractions and wineries, the entrepreneurial spirit is strong in Kelowna.
And national media are taking notice.
Kelowna moved up one spot since 2015 to take the title as most entrepreneurial large city in Canada, in a ranking released Monday by the Financial Post.
The rankings were calculated based on information compiled by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business.
The survey, in honour of national small business week, ranks municipalities in Canada based on 14 indicators, including the number of self-employed people per total employed, business establishments per capita, business property tax rates and overall optimism.
While Kelowna made a small move up on the list to claim top spot, Gatineau Que. jumped from 37th to 15th overall, while Calgary dropped from 13th to 39th and Saskatoon dropped from fourth overall in 2015 to 20th.
