Saskatchewan Real Estate Market Heating up with the Weather

Existing Home Sale Prices rise across Canada

According to the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA), listed existing homes recorded their best December ever as the recovery in the Canadian housing market sales climbed 7.7 per cent last year from 2008.

There were a total of 27,744 units sold across Canada in December, up 72 per cent from a year earlier.

Due to low interest rates, the CREA forecasts that the national home sales activity is expected to remain strong in the first half of 2010. Although interest rates are expected to rise, they will still be low enough to keep affordability within reach for many homebuyers requiring mortgage financing, and support overall housing demand.

Regina Sale Prices Hit New High in 2009

Did you know that the average selling price for homes in Regina soared to a new high last year and the number of properties sold was the second highest ever?

According to the Association of Regina REALTORS®, the average selling price of homes sold through the multiple listing service was $244,328, which is up 7% from the previous high set in 2008.

There were 3,691 residential properties sold in Regina (the city, neighbouring rural areas and bedroom communities) last year. This is 10% above the 2008 total.
