Bloor West Village, also called Runnymede, is a lovely, established neighbourhood in Toronto’s west end. Located just west of beautiful High Park and east of the Humber Valley, you will find that Bloor West Village boasts plenty of natural beauty to go along with its wide selection of shops and impeccably maintained streets and sidewalks. An established, yet welcoming community, Bloor West Village truly is one of the neighbourhoods that make Toronto great!
Bloor West Village is located between Bloor Street to the south and the CP Railway tracks to the north, and just east of Runnymede road to the east to Jane Street to the west. The community is centred along Bloor Street West, which was the first Business Improvement Area in Toronto. It is easy to see the pride that members of the community take- well maintained sidewalks with plenty of benches and greenery make walking between the businesses in Bloor West Village a pleasure.
It’s easy to get around Bloor West Village too. Subway stations on the Bloor Danforth line at Runnymede and Jane take you east or west, and there are many signed bike routes throughout the neighbourhood. If you’re driving, you’re only a short distance from the QEW. Many grocery stores, bakeries, restaurants, and a library are located on Bloor Street, in easy walking distance- it is one of the most walkable neighbourhoods in all of Toronto!
Homes in Bloor West Village are largely well maintained detached houses from the early 20th century. Large lots and stunning woodwork boost the already impressive curb appeal that the well maintained, tree lined streets already have. The gently rolling hills only serve to boost this appeal. With schools and libraries right in the neighbourhood, there is plenty of function to back up the form!
The natural beauty of High Park, a short walk away is one of the major draws that Bloor West Village has, but it is also a neighbourhood that is absolutely full of culture. Bloor West Village is the centre of Toronto’s Ukrainian community, and has many traditional Ukrainian shops and services, and also hosts Toronto’s annual Ukrainian festival. Several other community festivals take place throughout the year, demonstrating just how much residents show their community spirit.
Bloor West Village is a truly amazing neighbourhood. Packed with convenience, culture and character, it is a great place to live- and shop, and dine, and more!
