Roncesvalles Village starts at Sorauren Avenue to the east, to High Park in the west. Bloor Street is its northern border, while the lake shore is its southern border. The main commercial street in Roncesvalles Village is Roncesvalles Avenue, where you can find anything from local produce to delicious Polish pastries. Beautiful Victorian homes on tree lined streets are what you’ll find should you walk off Roncesvalles.
Getting around Roncesvalles Village is one aspect of what makes this neighbourhood great. The King streetcar will take you right downtown, or right up to Dundas West subway station on the Bloor Danforth Line. Roncesvalles now boasts a bike lane to boot! Roncesvalles Village is also home to many car-sharing companies, should you want a car only occasionally. You’re also near the Gardiner Expressway, if you need to drive.
Houses in Roncesvalles Village are mainly beautiful Victorian homes on wide, tree lined boulevards. One of the best examples of this is High Park Boulevard. Between iron gates that mark its beginning at Roncesvalles Avenue to the entrance of High Park, it is breathtaking brick and stone houses the whole length. The surrounding streets share the same attributes, beautiful homes, with trees towering past their three storeys. There are many condos and lofts sprouting up, generally closer to Dundas West Station.
There are lots to do in Roncesvalles Village. It is the heart of Toronto’s Polish community, and home to the annual Polish Festival. Traditional Polish bakeries and restaurants also now have diverse neighbours, from sushi to local produce. Nature is a big draw, too. From beautiful High Park, just a short walk away, to the lake shore and the western beaches, you will find few places that have as much to offer a nature lover than Roncesvalles Village. All of this, without ever having to leave Toronto! Roncesvalles Village is well served by schools, as well as the beautiful library branch on Howard Park.
