Welcome to Lynda Hepinstall's website.
I LOVE living in this area! Most days, for me, start with a walk with my husband . How great is it to be able walk out the drive and have the choice of walking in the local, Simcoe County Forest, or up the Trent-Severn canal bank and connecting to the local Conservancy trails? Or through the lovely new developments in our area that feature large lots, each home is different and the new neighbours are all friendly. Regardless of the season there is always something to do outdoors. We snowshoe in the winter, some years we have been able to have a small skating rink on the canal or we come over to the Village to skate. What a pleasure it has been this winter to see our little Grandaughters fall in love with skating. The oldest have become outdoor enthusiasts already, and everything they do the little one has to try as well.
As I look forward to the change in the season I get excited about getting the canoe in the water, and exploring the swaile, that is now part of the Alexander Hope-Smith preserve. We have seen everything from huge snapping turtles mating, to the ubiquitous Blue heron, and a variety of waterlilies. As the spring run-off swells the local rivers, we try to take time to do a little '"white" water trip down the Black River, ( although, I hate to admit that I feel I am getting a little to old !) But all it takes is that one beautiful spring day to push us onto the water. Close by you can explore a great lake that has NO building on it and is the best swimming! Well worth the effort of loading your canoe and taking the 15min. drive to get there.
And then there is Summer! Swim at the local Park, which has a nice, child friendly beach and a great new playground for the little ones. We like to put our Zodiac in at the free ramp at the Washago dock or the free ramp down at Franklin beach and get out on Lake Couchiching or head down the river through Sparrow Lake.
