The National Capital Commission (NCC) is pleased to host the 33rd edition of the world renowned Gatineau Loppet in Gatineau Park from February 18 to 20, 2011.

This year’s theme, “Everybody on the Trails!”, will welcome some 3,000 skiers, experts and amateurs from at least 20 different countries to participate in various races and activities in Gatineau Park. The Gatineau Loppet will once again offer races for all ability levels, from families to competitive skiers. The Gatineau Loppet also takes place during the third weekend of the 33rd edition of Winterlude, the Capital’s winter celebration!

The Gatineau Loppet, held every year on the Gatineau Park cross-country ski trail network, is Canada’s most important cross-country skiing event. It is the Canadian leg of the Worldloppet circuit, which now includes the 15 most prestigious and popular cross-country ski competitions in the world.

“The Gatineau Loppet, which is now a longstanding tradition, is an annual reminder to all Canadians that Gatineau Park is  a worldwide reference for cross-country skiers and outdoor enthusiasts,” said Jean-François Trépanier, Executive Vice-President of Operations at the National Capital Commission. “The NCC is proud to provide a network of ski trails for this event.”
