We live in Canada and most of us know how to be prepared to receive the cold weather … but it is necessary to take certain precautions to comfortably live through this period of low temperatures and here are a few reminders to have that cold under control!
-We must prepare our home and have an updated insurance that will protect us from any disaster caused by bad weather, storms, and strong gusts of wind or fires.
-Clean gutters to avoid snow and ice accumulation.
-Check windows and doors.
-Check the heating system. Chimney and pipes must be kept clean and in good condition.
-Review house ventilation and smoke extraction.
-Check pipes to repair cracks or breaks to prevent water loss and ensure that pipes exposed to the weather will not freeze.
-Check fire alarms. Risk of fires increases during the winter time.
-Always pay attention to the weather forecast announcement
-Carry an emergency kit in your vehicle and of course, wear adequate clothing!
Lastly, check your movie collection, get cozy blankets, coffee and chocolate, so that the time you spend at home may be enjoyable and warm.
