Marcus lived in Old South for much of his life.  As a youngster his family home was on Commissioners Road and later in life, after a sojourn to England for school and then south of the border for business, he and h​is wife Dianne returned to London and the neighbourhood he knew. They live and play in Old South. His children attend his alma mater (Mountsfield Public School) and the family enjoys the strong diversity of community, an element of life his mother identified as a ‘must have’ for Marcus and his siblings.  The Plowright’s have made several moves since returning ‘home’ but it’s never too far – just down the street – or around the corner.  Marcus likes where he lives and believes in investing in his community.  His latest venture connects the dots between his business and life experiences. 

Meet the A Team.

There’s always a story behind a friendship or partnership. In the case of Marcus Plowright and Allen Fayad the tale of their acquaintance includes a business venture and it all began with introductions on a squash court.  A little exercise, some good natured competition, and a shared interest in the redesign and renovation of the London Squash & Fitness Club, was the initial catalyst for the comradery. Marcus, who was serving on the Board of Directors at the time, encouraged Allan to join the Renaissance committee.  Ten years later the squash games and rivalry continue, and they report the Club’s Renaissance Project successfully completed the half a million dollar refit in 2011.  The changes were significant and included a complete structural, mechanical and cosmetic overhaul of the building on Albert Street. Membership at the private – not- for-profit – facility has since dramatically increased and celebrations in April will mark the 50th year of operation.  The friendship that began on the squash court is what ultimately brings us to the establishment of the Century 21 – A Team.  It’s a partnership built on experience, knowledge and a proven track record.  They both deliver.  

 

                                                                                                                         

Allen Fayad has operated a successful, independent real estate business for 33 years.  He has an outstanding reputation and industry enviable numbers and awards.  His client list is created with referrals and in some cases family customers are multi-generational. His strong suit has always been the ability to connect with customers and help them make the right move, whether it’s a residential or commercial sale. His business was continually expanding and he was considering options for handling the volume.  He says, “I am a hands on – face to face person - and I needed someone who could bring a number of strengths to the table.  Marketing expertise, contacts, and the ability to develop a comprehensive system to ensure all our clients receive the complete level of service I deliver – no compromise.  I had to make some critical decisions regarding my business and I gave it a lot of thought because Marcus has been a huge referral source for me but I knew he had the skills and experience I needed – so I said to him one day – you know what, why don’t you stop referring business to me and just come and work with me.”    It was an offer Marcus considered carefully, for about a year, before making the decision to formally step into property sales.

It was, however, a landscape very familiar to him as he has been in building products and contracting for 30 years and Anden Design/Build has, over the past decade, completed over 600 home renovations and over 1000 exterior renovations.  Marcus understands how Anden’s level of activity in the London community identified a need in the property sales world.  “Every day I have people call me and ask me “should I renovate or should I sell “OR “should I invest in a particular property”.  And in the instances where it’s in their best interest to sell I’ve recommended Al because of his ability to represent his clients better than any other agent I’ve ever experienced. To that end he has sold several of my own properties and so when Al approached me and said perhaps we should work together I thought long and hard about it.” 

The final decision was affirmative and Marcus believes the combination of his knowledge of house construction and renovation combines perfectly with Al’s experience. “We provide a great service for Londoners that has been lacking in the past.  Our A Team approach gives homeowners an agent and a contractor at their side to help them figure out how best to get the most value out of their current property and to help them find the right property WITH a clear understanding of what it’s going to cost them to make it their own through renovation.”  

Marcus is a dedicated entrepreneur.  The addition of the A Team to his work load has been carefully orchestrated to allow him the time and resources to be successful.  Al’s decision to work in consort with another professional came after considering all options.  Both are confident this collaboration is the best fit for their customers and themselves.  They are the A Team.
