At least nine new hotels are being built or planned in Regina and area. A definite reflection of the robust economy.
Northwest Regina will see it's first hotel - a new Comfort Suites is being built at the intersection of Pasqua Street and Diefenbaker Drive.
The corner of Pasqua Street and Dewdney Avenue will see a Residences by Marriott.
A Home Inn and Suites is planned for Harbour Landing's Grasslands area, near the existing Day's Inn.
In downtown Regina, the Regina Inn which opened in 1967 was closed for a massive renovation since January 1st and is being rebranded as a Doubletree Inn. The Capital Pointe condo/hotel project has had many delays but is still expected to commence and include a major hotel.
A Four Points by Sheraton is being built at 2415 Dewdney Avenue, just east of Albert Street.
In the east end, a Hampton Inn is under construction near the Best Western that opened in January.
A Sleep Inn and Ramada are currently under construction in the White City/Emerald Park area.
In Regina's south end, the site of the Sherwood House hotel at Parliament Avenue and Albert Street, is being redeveloped into a Fairfield Inn.
This will bring about 750 rooms onto the market in 2014 and 2015. Some will be open just in time for the Grey Cup in November.
Last year Moose Jaw saw the completion of a Best Western on the city's northern edge and work started on a Ramada Inn nearby.
