Montréal, January 25, 2011 - The Régie du logement today disseminated the average estimated rent increases established pursuant to the Regulation respecting the criteria for the fixing of rent. The estimates provide landlords and tenants with a basis for discussion in order to facilitate an agreement on a rent increase that each party considers satisfactory.
The Régie wishes to point out that the average increases are provided as indications and are therefore not recommendations or fixed rate increases. The estimates do not take into consideration the specific features of each building; the operating expenses for a building may justify a variation in rent distinct from the estimates.
Here are estimated basic increases. They do not take into account variations in municipal or school taxes, or major improvements.
