Inspired in encouraging children to create, exhibit and celebrate art, Derivative Abstract Painter, Lory MacDonald, founded The Magic of Children in the Arts Show in 1994 and continues to captivate the community with her commitment and passion for celebrating children's art.
With the help of volunteers and strong partnerships, this registered charitable organization hosts Canada's largest children's art exhibition and has enlightened the hearts of many people with thousands of magnificent pieces of artwork created by our community's children over the years. Lory introduced workshops into a few schools to help guide each child when creating their masterpiece.
This year, almost 700 pieces were submitted! All funds raised contribute to this wonderful exhibition from children in the Clearview and Collingwood area and also includes the opportunity to participate in a free art workshop. Magic of Children in the Arts continues to review children's artwork giving a positive comment and prize of quality art materials for each and every child. No piece is left unnoticed. In fact, each piece of artwork is reviewed by professional artists.
Attached to each art piece is the artist's statement telling the story of their artwork; an imaginative reflection of their art piece. The children chose from themes including portraits, nature and animals, imaginary worlds and landscapes.
The celebration culminates with an opening awards reception at the
Collingwood Public Library on March 21st from 1-4 pm. where you can receive your child's prize package and celebrate children's art! You can view the children's artwork at the library until the awards reception so drop on by and take in the beauty of some colourful masterpieces. The exhibit is open to the public during regular library hours
for the months of March and April. Please drop by and have a look and read
the young artist's statement.
