Hosted by the Parks Recreation and Culture Department . The 2nd Annual Creative Collingwood  Symposium, in partnership with the South Georgian Bay Small Business Enterprise Centre is having an evening of experience.  Anyone involved in Arts and Culture (employed or volunteer), business owners or not-for-profit organizations are welcome to attend!

“Cultivating ARTpreneurship” is the theme this year.

According to the information on the Town of Collingwood website the keynote speaker will be  Jim Blake:

Jim resides in Haliburton, Ontario where he works as a facilitator, consultant, project manager and educator. With a collaborative of performing arts organizations, Jim helped create and host Canada’s first Performing Arts in Rural Communities Symposium and begin the development of the SPARC Network.

Jim is the Community Economic Development Consultant for the Haliburton County Development Corporation. There he coodinates the Haliburton Creative Business Incubator and works with the not-for-profit sector, businesses and business associations to facilitate strategic planning and community economic development. In 2002, he undertook the responsibility to work with all of the arts, culture and heritage organizations in the region to form the Arts Council~Haliburton Highlands.

Jim serves as the curator of the Haliburton Sculpture Forest and is a part-time faculty member at the Fleming College Haliburton School of The Arts where he teaches courses on business for artists. 

A professional storyteller for the past twenty five years, Jim has performed at festivals and venues across Canada. He studied fine art at University of Guelph, York University and the New School of Art and exhibited his work as a visual artist from 1976 to 1984.”  ~ Town of Collingwood Website

Presentations will be given on the themes Effective Word of Mouth and Getting Your Idea off the GroundCreative Funding Tips and Insights.

Other important guests will be Ronnie Brown, Janice Lambrakos, Heather Goldsworthy, Donna Goodwin, and Alex Hogan.
