As we near the holiday months, our calendars inevitably start to fill up. If you are considering hosting a holiday party, being prepared and organized is a must. Use the below tips to help you plan your party:
Save the date: As we get closer to the holiday season, it is a busy time for all. Be sure to send out a save-the-date invite to ensure that your friends, family and colleagues can make your party.
Food: Decide ahead of time whether or not you are going to do a full dinner or just snacks. Be sure to include this information in your invite so that guests know in advance. Whatever you decide, be sure that there is enough food for everyone and include a few heavier items if drinks are being served.
Drinks: Have a variety of choices on hand including, red and white wine, beer and spirits. Also be sure to have water bottles easily accessible and various non-alcholic beverages. Consider making two punches; one with alcohol and one without.
Necessities: At your ‘bar’ be sure to have the appropriate tools and garnishes ready so that you are not spending time cutting lemons all night. Have dishes with lemons, limes, olives and cherries out so that your guests can make their own drinks. Also, have a variety of glass ware, and cork screws out on the table. Stock up on ice and have a bucket on the table.
Garbage: Have a couple of garbage cans and/or recycling bins in easy access so that you can clean as you go throughout your party.
Music: Have ready-set playlists made in advance on your IPOD or make a few mix CDs so that you don’t waste time changing music all night.
Throwing a party can be a lot of fun. Save yourself stress by being prepared and organized. That way, you get to enjoy the party too!
