New Year, Clean Slate

As the year begins, what better time is it to get organized and start fresh? Take the opportunity this month to get started on those long overdue projects around the home and to clean out and clear out unnecessary clutter around the home.

Start by picking one room at a time. Often the bedrooms and closets are a good place to begin. Sort through all of your clothing, old jackets, shoes and boots and make three piles; keep, donate and throw away. Donate all possible items to charities, as this time of year they could use the extra clothing (especially warm winter wears).

Once the closets are finished, get at storage spaces and basements where we tend to just pile things up to get them out of the way. Again, decide what items to keep, what to donate and what to throw away. Kitchen ware and old décor items are also in demand for charities so be sure to pass on anything that you no longer need or use.

Finally, hit up the local Home Depot, Wal-Mart or Storage Solutions stores to invest in some Rubbermaid bins or storage containers to help you get organized. Label each box as you store each item so that you can easily find them if necessary.
