The Home Buying Process

There are many steps involved in the home buying process. Check out the below for a snapshot of the process from start to finish.

Step 1: Contact a REALTOR®

Sometimes the home buying process can seem overwhelming. By contacting a REALTOR® at the beginning of your search, you will be informed and guided throughout the entire process.

Step 2: Find out what you can afford

It is imperative that you sit down with a mortgage broker to find out exactly what you can afford. This allows you to get focused and realistic about where to start your search. Getting pre-approved for a mortgage makes you an attractive buyer to sellers and lets them know that you are serious.

Step 3: Meet with your REALTOR®

Now that you know what you can afford, it is time to sit down with your REALTOR® and narrow in on what you are looking for. Your REALTOR® can help you establish between what your wants and needs are for your purchase (remember the two are different). Also, your REALTOR® can provide you with information about neighbourhoods, schools etc… that may influence your search.

Step 4: The Dream Home Search

Your REALTOR® will assist you in finding homes that match the criteria you have provided them with. They will also arrange appointments and go with you to view various homes.

Step 5: Making an Offer

Once you have located your dream home, your REALTOR® will assist you in making an offer and go over all terms and conditions with you. In addition your REALTOR® will negotiate on your behalf and try to get you the best possible price.

Step 6: After Acceptance

Your REALTOR® will assist you in removing all terms and conditions and will aid you in finding a good home inspector or any other professionals you may need to consult with.

Step 7: Pick up the keys and move in!!
