Thinking about buying?

Once you get the idea in mind to become a homeowner, or purchase a new home, there are many different aspects to consider. Before you even begin the process, it is essential that you go over a few different things.

  • When you decide that you would like to buy a home, ask your friends, family members and colleagues for any recommendations for a good REALTOR® (unless you already have one). It is recommended that you interview about three different people in order to find someone that you feel confident in and comfortable with.
  • Before you start viewing homes, sit down with a mortgage broker and get pre-approved for a mortgage. This allows you to know exactly what you can afford, gives you perameters for your search and shows sellers that you are a serious buyer.
  • Now that you know what you can afford, sit down with your REALTOR® and discuss your wants and needs for your purchase (these may change as you begin the home search). In addition, get a good feel for different neighbourhoods in the area in order to narrow down your search.

These are just a few things that a potential buyer will want to consider and discuss before they actually begin the buying process. A REALTOR® can assist you throughout this process from start to finish, and provide you with assistance in enlisting any other necessary professionals.
