Tips for Selling your Home this Fall

As the season starts to change and we move into October, it is time to make some changes around the home. If you are selling your home this fall, there are a few tips and tricks you may want to consider to increase the appeal of your home to potential buyers. See below to learn how you can attract buyers to your home in a Fall Market.

Curb Appeal:

As always, first impressions are very important. As the leaves start to change, you are lucky to have a natural beauty attached to your landscape. However, it is important to rake and maintain your lawn so it shows at its absolute best. Be sure to remove any dead or dying flowers from the summer and to keep your lawn tidy. Keep your walkways tidy and sweep regularly.

Appeal to the Senses:

The fall season inevitably makes us think of cozy nights, warm drinks and fall colours and flavours. Play up on these cues by adding some seasonable décor to your home. Place a fall wreath on your front door, or have a few pumpkins near the entry way. Fall flavoured candles, or better yet, fall baking smells can add a warm and inviting touch to your home.

Lighting:

A warm glow should be seen throughout your home. As always, make sure that all light bulbs are in working order. During this season, it can be especially appealing to have the fireplace on during showings or open houses.

Update Photos:

If your home was listed in the spring or summer, be sure to have your listing photos updated to reflect its current state. Out-dated photos can make buyers wonder why your home has been on the market so long.

As with any season, don’t forget to clean and de-clutter your entire home. A clean, warm, cozy and inviting home in the fall season should go a long way in getting you the quick sale that you are hopeful for.
