An article in the Georgia Straight caught my eye a couple of days ago that was headlined “It’s time to get real about living in Vancouver.” It talks about how Vancouver continually is ranked among the top cities in the world however it’s cost of living sometimes feels like it shouldn’t be ranked high at all.
I wanted to comment on this as I’ve been calling Vancouver home for the last 11 years. YES the Real Estate prices are extremely high but if I ever find myself complaining about the cost of living, I try to stop and remind myself that we live in a global city. One of the most desirable places to live in the world, we are Canada’s Hawaii and that is going to come at a price. We are smelling the tulips in February, wearing flip flops in March.. we can’t except that to be cheap. It’s a luxury to live in the core of any major city and us Vancouverites need to manage our expectations and realize that it’s a privilege to live here. #TruthHurts
