On the Street in Steveston

Buying, selling, just listed, just sold. It's hard not to be curious about what is happening in your neighborhood. I was standing in the middle of the road on a quiet Steveston street taking photos for CENTURY 21's National House Price Survey when a lady approached me. "What are you doing?" she asked. "Taking photos of typical Steveston houses," I replied. "Oh," she said and went back to putting her children in their carseats. I moved down the street trying to decide which home would photograph best and a little while later came back towards my car. She approached me again, "No one's moving?" I shook my head. She seemed disappointed. No new neighbors. No new gossip. No new listing prices. No new sale prices. Despite the picture painted by the media, it is difficult to find a nice place to call home in many Richmond, BC neighborhoods including Steveston. We keep hearing reports of increased inventory but when it comes time to look, it seems like there is nothing to look at or nothing to see at an appropriate list price. This means we wait for new for sale signs to go up or for other signs, like realtors standing in the middle of the road, that something is about to happen on the street in Steveston.
