Paint was flying, music was pumping and the energy was high as the first Art Battle hit Collingwood on Saturday night.
Twelve artists took to the stage at Studio 65 and the Theatre Collingwood Studio Theatre to compete in the event, which took place in locations across Canada.
Artists were given 20 minutes, a blank canvas and 10 paint colours, to come up with a masterpiece.
In the end, it was Collingwood artist Andrew Peycha who was the winner.
“It was very exciting,” he said.
Peycha said his first painting was based on one of his favourite spots to go camping.
Hundreds of people attended the event and walked around the painters as they were competing. The winners were determined by votes from the crowd.
The other artists were Jill Price and Arlene Murphy of Barrie, David Marshak of Kimberly, Jennifer Woodburn of Thornbury, Sarah Merry of Toronto, Jen Lawton of Wasaga Beach, John Anderson of Stayner and Kirsty Wilson, Libby Mourant, Kyle Haight and Lazarus Ioannou of Collingwood.
