East End is one of the more established neighborhoods in Barrie, with a wide variety of homes with large lots and trees. Private lots make it feel like you're living in the country, while you are in the city.
Further from the lake, bungalows and split level homes are more common.
Great prices on accessible homes make it a popular place to retire.
Homes in this area are a short bike ride downhill the downtown waterfront. The Royal Victoria Hospital is located in the north part of the area, including the new Simcoe-Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre.
East End is stable community with short days on market when properties do come on the market.
The Northshore Trail runs along Kempenfelt Bay on an old train track to Orillia for walking and biking.
Shopping
East End is not a shopping destination, but does have a bus route to shopping.
Schools
Nearby Georgian College is one of Barrie's largest employers (a University and College Partnership Center). The school draws students from all over the world. The new health and science center under construction will open in the fall of 2011.
