ON Saturday, July 10th, 2010, the following yacht clubs, Bronte Harbour Yacht Club, Oakville Yacht Squadron, and Oakville Power Boat Club, are hosting the 6th Annual Regatta for Easter Seals presented by TD Canada Trust.  This fundraising event features a variety of watercraft taking to beautiful Lake Ontario to raise funds for children with physical disabilities.  The Easter Seals children view this water event and are placed on  power boats at the Oakville Power Boat Club with the aid of the local Firefighters.  Besides the boat ride, this event hosts children’s activities, a BBQ lunch for the Children and their family, and a fabulous evening with the sailors and Children for dinner, dancing and a silent auction which, to date has raised over $132,000 for the  Easter Seals kids in the Halton Region.

Today, 145 children in Halton Region live with a physical disability and Easter Seals works to help these kids achieve their full potential. Did you know that an essential aid such as an electric wheelchair can cost up to $25,000?  For more than 85 years, Easter Seals has been helping families purchase expensive equipment needed for mobility and communication, providing access to critical research, resources and information and sending our kids to specialized camping programs where kids can just be kids!
