Yes, the summer if officially over - time to pack up the beach towels and sunscreen for another year. But it doesn't mean the fun has to end - there are events taking place all over Halton Region that make the most of this time of year, a favourite for many - the leaves crunching underfoot, Halloween frights and that Thanksgiving turkey, are all part of fond memories. Here's a small list of some of the great stuff taking place in the next couple of months that I will definitely be checking out. So get yourself a nice mug of hot chocolate or apple cider, put on your coziest sweater and see what Halton Region has to offer:
Autumn Days in the Country
Where: Mountsberg Conservation Area, Campbelleville
During weekends and holidays, you can see the Mountsberg bison herd up close during scheduled wagon rides, bird of prey demonstrations and lots of seasonal children's programming and guided hikes.
Harvest Festival at Springridge Farm
Where: Springridge Farm, Milton
Lots of fun activities for kids like puppet shows and pony rides, weekend BBQ's and a Halloween Parade on October 28th. Open daily 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Where: Bronte Creek Provincial Park, Oakville
Have little ones go trick-or-treating site to site instead of door-to-door. Decorating of camp sites encouraged! Please visit link above to reserve your site.
Where: Glen Eden Ski Resort
The Zombie Race is a 5K obstacle race that will test you both mentally and physically. Whether you are a seasoned trail runner, love zombie movies, or are a weekend warrior The Zombie Race is for you. You will be racing against time, as well as dodging hundreds of brain-hungry, virus-infected zombies. Money raised in support of Credit Valley Hospital Foundation.
These are just a few of the fun events going on in and around Halton. For a complete list of what's happening, visit the Halton Region website. Hope to see you out on the trails!
