I recently had the opportunity to meet with Gloria Pffeferle, Membership Coordinator for the Beach Canal Lighthouse Group.

The group's desire is to restore the Lighthouse and the Lighthouse Keeper's cottage back to it's original state. To expand the grounds and add gardens. When this is all accomplish they hope to allow the Lighthouse and cottage to be rented for personal or corporate functions.

I have included a bit of information about the Beach Canal Lighthouse Group, also included links regarding their site.

 About the BCLG

The goal of the BCLG is to bring together people who are interested in the preservation of these structures as focal points for the appreciation of the historic, cultural, economic, and recreational significance of the areas adjacent to the Burlington Ship Canal.

The objectives are:

  • To restore the structures
  • To further the preservation and celebration of the structures as resources for the enjoyment, and education of the public
  • To facilitate the collection and display of materials relating to the history and significance of the structures and the immediate area

Please visit these sites and help the Beach Canal Lighthouse Group achieve their goal, of bringing this wonderful piece of Hamilton/Burlington history back to it's original glory.
