Colour Trends of 2013
2013 looks to be a very exciting year in design and if you're into the trends, the colour for 2013 is emerald according to Pantone. Emerald was chosen for its "vivid verdant green" which promotes balance and harmony along with well-being.
Green in general, has often been associated with growth, renewal and rejuvenation. It's used by Designers quite often as it goes well with other colours. Expect to see many shades of green in 2013 for both fashion trends and in home decor ideas. If you're thinking about using the colour, consider accessorizing with items like vases or pillows to bring this bright colour into your home.
Another colour trendsetting forecast to take notice of is Benjamin Moore's Color Pulse® 2013: Intersection. The forecast is broken into four trend categories:
- Interflow: inspired by handcrafting and heritage
- Intercycle: inspired by reusing materials to create new items
- Interanimate: inspired by escape and the use of colour
- Interconnect: inspired by our digital world and how we stay connected and entertained
In a National Post article, the colours to look out for in 2013 are red, yellow, green and blue. Accent colours to look for are pink, orange and purple. Don't forget the neutrals though - grey, black and whites in a matte finish will continue to have a strong presence in design. Benjamin Moore has also selected lemon sorbet as their colour for 2013.
