Oakville's Annual Clean Sweep!! April 25, 2014

A great way to give back to the community!

Each year the Town of Oakville celebrates Earth Week with an initiative encouraging all individuals, businesses, families, neighbourhood, school and community groups and anyone who care about the town and our environment to get out and clean up litter in Oakville for 20 minutes on April 25 at 2 p.m.

20 minutes can make a big difference and keep Oakville beautiful.

If you are interested in participating, please complete the online registration form and the town will make ensure complimentary gloves, bags and garbage pick-up is provided for you.

Post your Oakville Clean Sweep pictures to our Facebook page and/or tweet us @townofoakville to be entered into a draw for a gift basket!

After the clean up

After the clean up, please let the town know how many large bags of garbage you collected. Email us at cleansweep@oakville.ca. Open the participation certificate (pdf, 48 kB) and let everyone know that you are helping keep Oakville beautiful.

What should I do with my bags of garbage?

Please ensure you use the clearly marked GLAD garbage bags to collect litter on the Clean Sweep day. These GLAD bags will be collected by Halton Region free of charge above the three-bag limit.

Please put the GLAD bags out on your regular garbage collection day and recycle what you can.

Community Clean-up

In addition, get your family and friends together on April 26, 2014 for a town-wide clean up organized by the Oakville Centre for Peace, Ecology and Human Rights. Over 34 nature sites are already designated as cleanup locations! Join in on an organized clean up or simply clean up around your own neighbourhood. To register or for more information on cleanup sites in your neighbourhood email info@oakvillepeacecentre.org or visit the Oakville Centre for Peace, Ecology and Human Rights website.
