No one can go back & make a brand new start.
Anyone can start from now & make a brand new
ending.” ~ Unknown
I don't know how many times I have thought "If I could only go back to being twelve-years-old, I would do things differently." 12?-how big of mistakes could I have made at 12?
This quote reminded me that no matter what I do, I can't go back to being twelve and make a brand new start-but I can create a brand new ending. This is exciting to me. It reminds me that I am not tied to old beliefs, old patterns and habits, circumstances of my younger life. I can choose right now to re-define who I am and how I show up in the world. I can choose right now to make new decisions that will change the endings of all areas of my life.
I had been thinking this morning about New Year's resolutions and changes I want to make in my life. I know that as the year moves forward, I will get busy, preoccupied and overwhelmed. I know that I need to keep it simple. I decided to narrow my New Year's resolution to asking one simple question:
"Will this action, thought, decision move me closer to my ideal self?" If the answer is yes, then I move forward. If the answer is no, then I move on. I have some good ideas of who my ideal self is and I am thinking that as the year progresses and I question myself with nothing but my own best interests at heart, this vision of me will become clearer.
Cheers-to new endings!
