Many Buyers know what features they are looking for when shopping for a home; how many bedrooms, how many bathrooms, parking etc. It's important however, to consider the location and how it fits your lifestyle. It's important to take a look at your daily activities and determine the correct radius to narrow down your search. Things to consider:
- proximity to work
- school zones
- school bus transportation
- child care
- distance to shopping
- proximity to arenas and other sports venues
It is also wise to take a good look at the neighbourhood and determine if it is growing or declining. How well are the other properties kept up? Are there bylaws or restrictive covenants that encourage the beautification of the neighbourhood and community?
Consider the demographics in the area of the home that interests you; are the neighbours of a similar age group? Are the majority of the neighbours young families, seniors, or singles? Is it a pet friendly community?
It's important to look beyond the walls of the home, outside the property lines and down the street, as you don't simply buy a home but you buy into the neighbourhood and community.
Happy House Hunting!
