Lately I have been asked several times whether or not it is too early to be thinking of selling in the spring. My answer to that is definitely not! Thinking ahead gives you the time you need to prepare for putting your home on the market. For example, you will want to check the status of your mortgage; is it portable? Will there be penalties? Also, you will have several months to thin out your closets; put away or dispose of all those extra items that may clutter up your home for showing. Thirdly, you will have several months to take care of those small repairs and touch ups that you may have been putting off. Lastly, you should be keeping an eye on the market; what is selling in your neighbourhood? How much is it selling for? If homes in the neighbourhood are not selling then why?
