First time home buyers
It has come to my attention that we as Realtors assume many things….We assume that if you, the consumer, are looking to buy a home, you know what you like and do not like, we assume that you know the procedures of viewing homes, how long it takes to get an appointment, or even that an appointment is necessary.
We assume that you know what you can spend, that you have been pre-approved for a mortgage, we assume you know what closing costs are, what to expect upon negotiating a deal, and what is expected of you when you sign that offer, who pays for your various inspections, and when an inspection is needed. Well, probably not all at once, however I am finding one or two things in each transaction that are assumed to be known that were a total surprise.
In light of these findings I have decided to level the playing field and blog about what to expect while searching for your new home. In the coming weeks I will explain what you should be asking yourself before you begin, what your Realtor will ask you, what the bank or mortgage broker will want, what a mortgage broker does vs. a bank. Give you tips to determine what style of home best suits you. My goal is to make every first time home buyers experience a more pleasant and successful. If there is anything in particular I should cover please feel free to email me at Natasha.huizinga@century21.ca
