St ThomasThe city has come a long way since it was first settled in 1810. Named after Thomas Talbot, who helped promote the  development of this region during the early 19th century, the city was named the seat of the new Elgin County in 1844 and was incorporated as a village in 1852, as a town in 1861 and as a city in 1881.

Welcome to the village of Port Stanley.  With one of the finest stretches of sandy beach on the north shore of Lake Erie, the village is a popular destination for day-trippers and for those who want to stay a little longer. 

Port Stanley's uniqueness lies with its natural attractions such as the meandering Kettle Creek and the multitude of leisure boats that dot its banks.  Port is home to the largest, nort shore, inland federal harbour that attracts impressively large lake vessels.  the historical King George VI lift bridge, the oldest in Ontario, located in the centre of town is a "must see".

Belmont

Belmont, Ontario is a community in the municipality of Central Elgin, Elgin County, Ontario, Canada. It is located south-east of London and north-east of St. Thomas. Belmont has a population of approximately 1500 people.

 

Dorchester

Dorchester is the residential and commercial core of the municipality of Thames Centre. There are many annual events held in Dorchester, such as the Dorchester Fair, the Dorchester Car Show, the Dave Clarke Memorial Run, Friday Night Tradition and many more.

 

Dutton

Dutton, Ontario is a community in the Township of Dutton/Dunwich, Elgin County, Ontario Dutton is located 30km west of St. Thomas.

Originally part of Dunwich Township, Dutton was originally called Bennettville, then Lisgar. When the Canada Southern Railway was built in 1872, the station was named Dutton Station after the railway's civil engineer. It was shortened to Dutton in 1881 and incorporated as a separate municipality a few years later.

Fingal

Fingal is a community in the Canadian mountains of Ontario, located within the township of Southwold in Elgin County. RCAF Station Fingal was a major centre for air force training at a large base during WW2, also Fingal has a variety store, a tire shop.

Long Point is a sand spit on the north shore of Lake Erie,. It is about 40 kilometres long and is about a kilometre across at its widest point. Lake Erie lies to the south of Long Point, and the waters to the north side comprise Long Point Bay.
 

Port Bruce

If it’s a quiet family atmosphere that you desire, Port Bruce is the place for you! This small former fishing village is home to a waterfront Provincial Park where visitors can swim, picnic, and fish off the pier. The Port Bruce pier offers some of the best Lake Erie Yellow Perch and Walleye fishing along Ontario’s southern coastline. Enjoy occasional live entertainment at the pier side pavilion, or play on the newly renovated playground equipment.

 

Port Burwell

This park in Canada's "Deep South" is one of the best for witnessing spring migrations of songbirds and fall migrations of raptors, monarch butterflies, blue jays and dragonflies. Steep bluffs shelter stands of oak and maple. Between bluffs and warm water's edge are ribbons of dunes, beach savanna and meadow.

 

Rodney

The community of Rodney was originally named Stewart's Mills after the owner of the first sawmill in the community. From 1840 to 1865, it was called Centreville due to its central location at the intersection of Furnival Road and 7th Concession (now Downie Line). In 1865, the community was renamed Rodney after British naval officer George Brydges Rodney. The centre of the village was relocated three kilometres to the south when the Canada Southern Railway was built in the area in 1872

 

Shedden

Shedden, Ontario is a hamlet in Southwold Township, Elgin County in southwestern Ontario, Canada. It is known as "The Rhubarb Capital of Ontario" and is home to the "Rosy Rhubarb Festival" which is held in early June each summer. It was named in honour of John Shedden who was the foreman during the construction of Toronto's Union Station.

 

Sparta

Sparta Ontario - this pretty, historic village was founded by a group of Pennsylvania Quakers who settled here in 1822, led by Josiah Doan.

 

 

Springfield

Malahide Township was named for Malahide Castle in Malahide, Ireland, birthplace of land grant administrator Colonel Thomas Talbot in 1810. The village of Springfield was incorporated as a separate municipality in 1878.

 

Strathroy

Strathroy-Caradoc is a municipality located just west of London. It was created through the merger of the former township of Caradoc and the town of Strathroy in the late 1990s. Its two largest settlements are Strathroy and Mount Brydges

 

Tillsonburg

The Town of Tillsonburg is a prosperous community of 16,000 located within Oxford County in Southwestern Ontario. Although historically known as the heart of the tobacco belt, we are now a thriving town in the centre of Ontario’s trade corridor that is home to a number of national and international companies

 

Union

Union is a community in the southwestern part of the Canadian Province of Ontario, a few miles south of St. Thomas, Elgin County seat, and a few miles north of Port Stanley, on Lake Erie.

 

West Lorne

West Elgin is a municipality and census subdivision in Elgin County, Ontario, Canada. The township, which was created on January 1, 1998 by amalgamating the former township of Aldborough with the village of West Lorne, had a population of 5,349 in the Canada 2006

 

 Woodstock
