The City's capital budget has been approved. After much debate, council voted in favour of the proposed Part 2 Capital Budget, with total expenditures of about $3.4 million dollars.
The approval didn't come without healthy debate however. One hot topic included the revitalization of thte Jaycee's pool. The aging outdoor facility will see a facellift to extend its life worth $750,000, but $500,000 of that funding came from federal gas tax dollars.
Mayor Heather Jackson requested that the item be pulled from the budget and approved separately to gather more facts about replacing the facility instead. Council ultimately voted to leave the line item in the budget. Other items of debate were the aging tennis courts on Parkside Drive and replacing the EMS phone services prior to 2015. City Treasurer Bill Day says he's pleased with this years capital budget.
