NO SUPPORT FOR STUDENTS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES

On Wednesday, Elgin County residents, Susan Buro and Diane White were at MPP Jeff Yurek's office.  All three share the same goal:  raise awareness of the provincial governments failure to provide adequate services for those with mental and developmental disabilities.  Mr. Buro sums it up.

Both Ms. Buro and Mrs. White have children who are over 18 and suffer from developmental disabilities.  They along with MPP Yurek, say that the situation has reached a crisis point, with wait lists for proper support, and funding dollars stretched far too thin to help all the families in need.  MPP Yurek adds that the PC Party's Christine Elliot had a legislative motion passed that calls on the government to establish a committee to develop  comprehensive developmental services strategy for Ontarians, but the government has yet to adopt it.
