It was a disaster at the St.Thomas Airport Tuesday afternoon. But this time around ... it was just a drill.
A full scale mock disaster was held which included the emergency response execution of 3 separate disasters. The disasters that were simulated included a school bus crash, a hanger fire and a fuel truck explosion. Local area cadets played the role of victims while emergency crews from around the region responded to the scene.
Emergency Management Co-Ordinator Don Crocker says there is a group that also met at the Central Elgin Municipality bujilding on Sunset Drive to respond to the situation.
Afterwards, the different emergency response teams will meet together to review what they improve on in case a situation like this ever does happen.
