UNEMPLOYMENT NUMBERS DOWN IN JUNE

Good news for the London-St.Thomas region as the unemployment rate has dropped to 9.2% in June.  That's down from 9.8% in May.  Ross Fair, Executive Director of Employment Services Elgin says that we shouldn't get overly excited about the promising numbers just yet.

On a national level, Statistics Canada says the economy lost about 400 jobs in June - a statisticly insignificant number that keeps the umemployment rate at 7.1 per cent.

StatsCan notes that for the first 6 months of this year, job creation has averaged a modest 14-thousand per month - or about half the pace of the last half of 2012.
